James H. “Jim” Delman is Of Counsel to Woody Law Firm. Before relocating to Denver in 2014, Mr. Delman practiced law for almost 35 years in Western Colorado (Aspen and Montrose). In general practice, Mr. Delman has handled a wide variety of cases, including family law (divorce, child custody, adoption, dependency & neglect), civil litigation and appeals, real estate, general business, immigration, construction, etc. In addition, Mr. Delman has participated as an attorney or acted as a mediator/arbitrator in more than 500 mediations. With Woody Law Firm, Mr. Delman’s main focus is family law, mediation/arbitration, and appeals.
Mr. Delman received his law degree from Gonzaga University, graduating first in his class. During law school, he received numerous academic awards, including the Law Dean’s Award and served as Associate Editor of the law review. Since his graduation, Mr. Delman has served as a Judge for the Montrose Municipal Court, on the Board of Directors of Colorado Rural Legal Services, on the Hearing Panel, Colorado Supreme Court Grievance Committee and the Seventh Judicial District Judicial Performance Commission.
Mr. Delman has also been active in civic and charitable organizations. He has served on the Board of Directors of the following organizations: the Basalt Regional Library District, Passage Charter School, Tri-County Resource Center (domestic violence shelter), Montrose Arts Council and the Valley Symphony Orchestra. He also served on the National Board of Directors, American Field Service (AFS-USA). He currently volunteers in the legal clinic at the Florence Crittenton School.
Mr. Delman considers himself a zealous advocate on behalf of his clients but always looks for ways to assist clients in reaching appropriate and economically sensible settlements whenever feasible.
Mr. Delman is a member in good standing of the bars of the State of Colorado, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Delman is a member of the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations.
